RMS-protected documents takes long time to open in intranet

If RMS-protected documents take long time to open in domain environment then it could be due to certificate validation is first going to internet then to local RMS server. To resolve this issue, please follow below steps.

1) Open Local Group Policy Editor using Administrator acocunt.

Click Start  à Run à GPEDIT.MSC and press Enter.

2)  Computer Configuration à Windows Settings à Security Settings à Click on Public Key Policies

3)    Double click on Certificate Path validation settings à Network Retrieval à Check the box “Define These policy settings à Uncheck Automatically update certificates in the Microsoft Root Certificate Program and Allow issuer Certificate ( AIA) retrieval during path validation”.

4)  Default retrieval Timeout ( in seconds): 1 Second

     Default Path validation cumulative retrieval timeout (in seconds): 1 Second

   

   Click on Apply and Ok.

   Now RMS-protected documents should not take more time to open.
