Print spooler keeps stopping


This issue can occur on Windows 7, 10, server 2008 R2, 2012 R2 and 2016. We get Print spooler service is not running message when printing a document or adding new printers. To solve the issue please follow the below steps to resolve this issue.

        Click on Start à Services.msc and press Enter. It will open Services Console.

  Right, Click on Print Spooler à Click on Start. 



Try to print or add printer. If you get the same error message then follow the below steps to clears corrupted spooled files.


C Drive à Windows à System 32 à Spool à Printers 




Select all the files and folder and delete it.

  Now start the print spooler service and test printing. This should solve the issue.

Gemalto has provided a utility to calculate the response using Gemalto response calculator so that blocked .net smart cards can be unblocked. First, download and install Gemalto Mini Drive from Gemalto website. Now, push below group policy on all domain client machines so that users can get challenge when their smart cards are blocked. Open Group Policy Management Console à Computer Configuration à Administrative Templates à Windows Components à Smart Card à Enabled “Allow Integrated Unblock screen to be displayed at the time of Logon”.
